Mission Statement
The mission of the Small Business Program is to ensure that small business concerns have the maximum practical opportunity in supplying goods and services to meet the purchasing needs of the Institute.
The California Institute of Technology is committed to supporting small business concerns, including those of socially and economically disadvantaged businesses, in its purchasing programs. Accordingly, Caltech maintains a Small Business Program that is designed to reach out to the small business community and to give qualified suppliers a fair and equal opportunity to compete for Institute business.

Small Business Office
Small Business Office provides the following for Federal Contracts > $750,000:
- Prepares Small Business plan in 'good faith effort' based on proposal budget submitted
- Prepares and submits small business compliance reports to government agencies
- Provides Small Business Subcontracting "Scorecard" to PI if subcontracting goals are met or not
- Helps develop subcontract plan in compliance with Federal Acquisition and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations
