Tina M. Lowenthal, Director of Procurement Services
As the Institute's Director of Procurement Services since 2005, Tina Lowenthal oversees a team that supports the entire procurement process from "cradle to grave". From copy paper to cogeneration plants, air travel to automotive repair, the team facilitates the Institute's research and teaching mission. Procurement Services provides academic and administrative departments with services that effectively and efficiently respond to their operating needs. These services are supported by established policies and procedures, which promote fair, ethical and legal acquisition and payment. Procurement Services will work diligently with our campus customers and suppliers to insure that Caltech receives maximum value for its expended resources.
Prior to becoming Director of Procurement Services, Tina was the Associate Director of Purchasing Services, having been promoted to such a position shortly after transferring from JPL to Campus in early 1996. Tina's career has virtually encompassed the entire acquisition/procurement world since she began working at JPL in 1986.
Tina earned her Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1984, a Professional Certification in Government Contract Management from UCLA in 1989, and then earned an MBA from the University of La Verne in 1991.
Tina's outside community service and/or various Board service includes: National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP) (1987-present), Temple Sinai of Glendale 2nd Vice-President (2009-present), and The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association "White Suiter" volunteer (2004-present).
Tina has been married to her college sweetheart, Marc, for 28 years and they have two daughters, Hannah, 21 years old, a Senior at the University of Oregon and Sarah, 18 years old, a soon-to-be Freshman at Washington State University.
